England’s Chapman and Clare win Tees Valley Gold mixed doubles


Top seeds Fontaine Chapman and Matthew Clare won the mixed doubles title to both pick up their second win in the Integral Collection Classic Senior Gold. 

England number one singles player Chapman, and England junior international Clare, beat local favourite Josh Young and partner Rachel Vickers, 22-20 21-17 in the final in Thornaby.

Chapman’s win was her second of the event after she claimed the women’s singles title, while Clare was crowned men’s doubles champion with partner Harry Wright.

Chapman and Clare beat Matthew Train and Rebecca Boyle in the semi-finals, and Ben Wheatley and Til”Shiloh Shaw en route to the final.

Young and Vickers reached the final after wins over Mark Tuttle and Emma Smethurst, and Chris Driver-Bellis and Stephanie Dawid-Paluch.
