Tees Active League: October

Marske B produced the shock of the opening month’s fixtures to beat defending champions Ormesby A in the Tees Active League Men’s Division A.

Marske beat Ormesby 5-4 meaning they top the table at the end of October after picking up a point from their defeat against Hartlepool in their opening fixture.

The Marske team which beat Ormesby was made up of Adrian Pearson, Ben Williams, David Pedlow, Chris Whiles, Gareth Jones and Andrew Tighe

In the Ladies division, Ormesby got off to a better start as the defending champions sit top of the table after the first month.

Ormesby, who won last year’s title after dropping just six rubbers, beat Thornaby Pavilion Ladies 7-2 in their opening fixture.

Ormesby also top the Mixed A division at the end of October two wins from two matches.

The Middlesbrough club beat Marske A 7-2 as well as beating their own B team 9-0 to top the league which they won last season.

Men’s Division A

Elsewhere in the Men’s A Division Marske A beat Marske B 7-2 to move to third in the table after the opening matches.

Hartlepool A earned their first win of the season with a narrow 5-4 win over Marske B.

Ormesby A beat Ormesby B 6-3 to move level on points with unlikely leaders Marske B having played one game less.

Men’s Division B

Westgate A top Division B after winning two of their opening three fixtures.

Westgate beat Richmond 6-3 and St Matthew’s 9-0 to top the league on six points despite losing to St Teresa’s 8-1.

Hartlepool B, who were relegated from Division A last season, got their campaign off to a winning start with a 7-2 win over Richmond in the division’s only other fixture this month.

Men’s Division C

Marske C sit top of Division C after winning both of their opening matches.

Marske beat Marske D 6-3 in their opening fixture and then beat Hartlepool C 8-1 to move onto six points.

Marske D sit second after a 7-2 win over Marske E one place above Teesside Sport who beat Westgate C 5-4.

Ladies Division

Marske A and Hartlepool join Ormesby on maximum points after they both won their opening matches.

Marske beat Thornaby Pavilion 7-2 while Hartlepool beat Yarm 5-4 meaning both teams have three points at the end of October.

Mixed Division A

Middlesbrough’s A and B teams sit second and third respectively, three points behind Ormesby A after both earning wins in October.

Middlesbrough A beat Middlesbrough B 8-1 and Middlesbrough B beat St Teresa’s 7-2 to both move onto three points.

Mixed Division B

Westgate A claimed top spot of the Mixed B Division after an 8-1 victory over Marske B.

Ormesby C are also on three points after they beat Marske B 5-4 in the only other match in the Division in October.

Mixed Division C

Four teams are level on three points at the top of Mixed Division C after the opening month.

Westgate B, Hartlepool B, Middlesbrough C and Marske C all picked up early season wins with Westgate leading the way on rubbers.

Westgate B beat Westgate C 9-0 but were then beaten 6-3 by Marske C.

Middlesbrough C beat Hartlepool B 6-3 while Hartlepool then Yarm B 6-3 to earn their first win.

Mixed Division D

Thornaby Pavilion are top of Division D following their 6-3 win over Teesside Sport.

Thornaby took three points from the only match to take place in the Division in October.
